Alucut Square Line 2.7mm is a square-profile nylon trimmer line, an alternative to the more common round line found on most spools. The square cross-section gives the line four cutting edges instead of a smooth round surface, so as it whips round it slices through vegetation rather than just battering it flat. That makes a real difference on coarser grass, tougher weed stems and light bramble growth, where round line of the same diameter would simply bounce off or wear down faster. At 2.7mm it’s also on the thicker side of the common range, adding extra mass and durability for rougher jobs.
Choosing and fitting
Before ordering, check what diameter and profile your trimmer’s head is designed for — this is usually printed on the head itself or listed in the trimmer’s manual. Bump-feed and fixed-line heads have a set channel width, and 2.7mm sits toward the upper end of what most mid-size petrol or higher-power cordless trimmers accept; many small electric strimmers with narrow heads are only rated for 1.6-2.4mm and won’t take this comfortably. If your machine’s spec sheet quotes anything in the 2.4-3.0mm range, this line should fit without issue. Honest limitations
Square line runs slightly louder and can transmit a touch more vibration through the shaft than round line, simply because the edges are catching material rather than gliding through it. It also tends to wear down a little faster than round profiles when it repeatedly strikes hard surfaces like paving, stone edging or fence posts, so it’s better suited to open grass and weed cutting than tight work around masonry. And while 2.7mm square line handles brambles and coarse stems well, it’s still line, not a blade — for genuinely woody growth or thicker brush, a 3-tooth blade attachment will do a cleaner, faster job regardless of line profile or diameter.
