The idea is durability — a plain nylon line tends to develop micro-cracks and snap clean through when it repeatedly strikes stones, fence posts or hard soil, forcing constant stopping and re-feeding. The cored design spreads that impact differently through the two layers, so it holds together longer under the same knocks. At 2.7mm it sits in the middle of the common diameter range, thick enough to stand up to coarse grass and weed stems without needing a particularly powerful machine to spin it.
What to fit it to
This line works best in bump-feed or fixed-line heads rated for 2.4-3.0mm line, which covers most mid-size petrol trimmers and higher-power cordless models.
