The 3M Peltor Optime I is the ear protection we’d recommend to most people. Petrol brush cutters are loud enough to damage hearing over time, and these certified defenders (SNR 27 dB) cut the noise to a safe, comfortable level. They’re light enough to wear all afternoon and cost very little. If you run a very loud machine for long periods, step up to the Optime III — otherwise the Optime I is the value sweet spot.
